Social Connections: Jocelyn and Nicole's Story
In the spring of 2010 a group was created to help young adults meet and form friendships. Social Connections offered by Community Living Prince Edward consists of fun activities for young people to participate in such as Poker Night, Wii Game Night, and Cranium Challenge.

At this gathering 2 young ladies met and became fast friends. Nicole was still attending high school but graduating at the end of the year. She had concerns about her current friendships being maintained. Nicole is a very bubbly, funny young girl with fashion flair and a love for boys!

Nicole was eager to attend Social Connections and meet new people. Also eager to attend was Jocelyn O'Neill, a young woman who had been a graduate of high school a few years previously. Jocelyn has struggled to maintain contact with many friends who have moved away to pursue university or other opportunities. Jocelyn is a bubbly, caring, young woman who has a love of horses, and takes pride in her independence and community presence.

Upon meeting, Jocelyn and Nicole quickly connected. They talked about boys, horses, hockey, and music among other things. They exchanged numbers and as some would say the rest is history!

From that first meeting they were supported to organize a night out at the Belleville Bulls Game. Jocelyn being an avid fan was the perfect person to introduce Nicole to the game. They had a great time together and soon made plans to go skating the following week.

Another highlight of their blossoming friendship was when Jocelyn participated in Nicole's graduation events which included the grad ceremony as well as her prom. Since then they have been to see a Rascal Flatts Concert, accompanied each other on shopping trips, and spent time together going out for supper and visiting the local gym for swimming. They contact each other regularly on the phone and thoroughly enjoy each other's company.

In November they attended a Carrie Underwood concert and now are talking about doing some travelling together. Their friendship is very special to both young women and they look forward to many years of sharing exciting moments.
