Stamp out the R Word

The County Advocates are pleased to be taking action to “Stamp out the 'R' Word” during the holiday season in Prince Edward County. This campaign encourages respectful and inclusive language of people with disabilities and encourages society to be conscious of the words they use. The advocates have partnered with the House of Falconer during their Christmas Market from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on December 8 and 15 to “spread the word to end the word”.

An important role for the advocates is to bring awareness to disability related issues or items that may impact continued growth and development of people with disabilities. The advocates are passionate about everyone being treated with dignity and that everyone has value. Society may not be aware of how their language can affect a person with a disability or how damaging words can be.

Please stop by and enjoy a hot apple cider and take away some information about this important message. As well, be sure to check out all the Christmas gift ideas that the House of Falconer Christmas Market has to offer. Located at 1 Walton St, Picton, they are open daily from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm from now until Christmas eve!
