Community Living Prince Edward has been participating in the United Way Day of Caring Project for many years. We have been fortunate to have had many projects completed at various locations in the organization and have had the privilege of sending teams to complete projects at other not-for–profit organizations.
As a leadership team, we review the needs within the agency and determine a good project to put forward to United Way to be considered. This year we submitted for a home where the people living there entertain many family members, friends and community visitors. The home needed some help to make their front entrance and yard more welcoming. To accomplish this we submitted to United Way for the following items to be completed:
- A fresh coat of paint on the front porch
- Update two front gardens with new edging, fresh flowers and greenery.
- Add a window box, hanging bird feeder and bird bath
- Plant flower boxes in the backyard
The team that came was from Bonn Law Offices in Trenton and this was their third year participating. They shared that this is one of their favorite days and they like seeing their work benefit others in need.
The end product was impressive and the people living are excited to now welcome guests to their home and make memories on their porch.
