Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant Elevates Voices of People

Picton, Ontario - In March 2021, Community Living Prince Edward (CLPE) was honored to receive a $69,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to elevate the voices of the people they serve and their families through co-designing services.

CLPE worked closely with People Minded Business to facilitate several Co-Design sessions with people receiving service, families, community partners, employees, board members, and local businesses. The sessions focused on ensuring stakeholders had a voice in the design of services and community support. Training and planning sessions were held to help implement pilot projects throughout the year and evaluate their effectiveness.

One of the many results of the project was the implementation of Social Connections. Through the work from the OTF grant, CLPE learned what matters most to people, and it was clear that youth/young adults and families wanted a place to make connections. Connections with other people, and their community, learning new skills, and trying new things. Ongoing, CLPE will facilitate several sessions geared to identified interests. These include Game Nights, Paint Tutorials, Gear-Up to Independent Living, Cooking with Confidence, Try-It Tuesdays, and much more.

“The investment from the Ontario Trillium Foundation was essential to help CLPE recover and rebuild services after COVID with a mindset of WITH People, not FOR people; Social Connections is just one example,” said Susan Treverton, CLPE Executive Director.
