Sewing Workshop for the Absolute and Terrified Beginner 

The Baxter Arts Centre

This workshop takes place over two Saturdays. With the support of The Huff Family Fund, we are able to offer a tiered Pay-What-You-Can options of $50, $100 or $200.

Sewing Workshop for the Absolute and Terrified Beginner Poster

What you need to know to operate a sewing machine with confidence.

Over 12 hours, you will learn the ABCs of machine sewing. Learn how to set up and thread a sewing machine, master the basics in machine stitching and practice fabric cutting, sewing and construction techniques. By the end of the 2 day workshop, participants will have completed two projects.

We are very grateful to our instructors, mentors and sponsors. All mentors (Deborah Hierlihy, Sue Hierlihy, Sabina McLuhan and Mary Anne Sharpe) have volunteered their time to ensure this class is affordable for the community. This program is supported by The Huff Family Fund. 

 

 

*Doors open at 8:30 AM. Participants are not required to have their own sewing machine. Baxter has 5 sewing machines on site. If you would have your own, you may bring it and store it at Baxter for the length of the program.

**This program would typically cost $250 to run without grant support.
