HIRING NOW - Property & Vehicle Maintenance Assistant


We’re Community Living Prince Edward and since 1965 we’ve supported people with intellectual disabilities age 0 to 99+ to live their best possible life. Our team of 160+ professionals provide outstanding supports and services to people and their families throughout Prince Edward County.

We are located in Picton, ON and are currently recruiting for a Property & Vehicle Maintenance Assistant.

Reporting to the Property & Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible to assist us with property maintenance tasks. This includes, being able to complete basic plumbing, electrical, finishing tasks, the ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently; must be able to manage time effectively and meet agreed upon finishing timelines. It is imperative that the incumbent be comfortable problem solving a variety of different situations and be comfortable working from a ladder from time to time.

Tasks include, but are not limited to knowledge of drywalling, sanding, painting, plumbing & electrical safety, appliance moving/repair, furniture builds, applying finishes / wall decor, caulking, yard maintenance, changing furnace filters, completing routine location inspections and pressure washing a variety of surfaces.

In this role, the incumbent must bring their own basic hand / power tools to complete general repairs. It is also imperative that the successful incumbent have a least two (2) years general construction and repairs experience.

HIRING NOW - Direct Support Professional (32 hrs/wk, full-time, reduced residential)

Reporting to the Supervisor, Supports and Services, the successful candidate will work at one of CLPE’s homes where people with an intellectual disability live. 

The schedule for this position is one weekend 1900 – 0700 Saturday and Sunday, and one weekend 0700-1900 Saturday and Sunday. There are an additional eight (8) hours scheduled throughout the week. There are sixty-four (64) hours scheduled each bi-weekly pay-period.

Duties Include:

  • Facilitating Person Directed Planning and developing strategies that lead to the attainment of individual goals.
  • Utilizing steps to independence as a tool to support the person to develop personal goals leading to the increased independence.
  • Developing teaching tools that lead to the progression of increased independence and skills.
  • Using technology to promote independence and reduce barriers.
  • Demonstrating experience advocating for people you support.
  • Demonstrating ability to both write and support people with developing their plans of support.
  • Demonstrating past experience supporting people to manage their overall and specific health inclusive of conscious care and support.
  • Communicating effectively with families, co-workers and community partners.
  • Assisting with and maintaining administrative tasks as required by both the people we serve and assigned duties in keeping with the policies/procedures and the practices of the organization.
  • Assisting with household maintenance tasks as outlined.
  • Following people’s plans of support to keep people healthy and safe, and with detail to people’s overall health and wellbeing.

Mandatory Requirements are:

  • Graduate of DSW, SSW, BST Program or another Human services degree/diploma.
  • Current CPR, First Aid and CPI Certificates.
  • Applied Medication Certificate or completed training deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative be innovative and think outside the box.
  • Ability to report to work on a regular basis and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Ability to demonstrate being fully vaccinated against COVID 19.
  • Ability to communicate with people both internal and external to the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid Full Class G drivers’ licence and clear Drivers Abstract.
  • Must possess a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Our competitive compensation package includes a starting wage of $27.00+/hour.

HIRING NOW - Full Time Accounting Coordinator

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Accounting Coordinator ensures that both the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions on a weekly basis are accurate and timely. The Accounting Coordinator co-ordinates financial services as they relate to General Ledger reconciliation to ensure successful completion of the financial month-end and year-end audits. It is required that the successful incumbent have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an accounting role. An overview of the duties and responsibilities are outlined below:

General Accounting

  • Participates and co-operates in the preparation of month-end and year-end activities including, but not limited to: journal entries, payable processing, accounts reconciliation, verification of accounts and summarizing, as required, in accordance with “Generally-Accepted Accounting Principles & Practices”.
  • Ensures appropriate storage of all accounting documentation in an organized and responsible manner including accounts payable, contracts, cheques and bank statements required to for audit purposes.
  • Processes all accounting documents in a digital format, including digital invoices and e-transfer transactions both incoming and outgoing.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Finance & Administration, provides adequate training to appropriate personnel for accounts payable and general accounting backup to ensure system continuity.

Accounts Payable Administration

  • Processes accounts payable documents in accordance with financial practices and policies.
  • Monitors, reconciles and prepares monthly invoicing for Individualized funding
  • Contacts vendors, as required to query invoices or to process adjustments in billing.
  • Posts and verifies monthly journal entries, as required allocating funds according to approved budgets.
  • Reconciles accounts and prepares journal entries.
  • Reconciles monthly MasterCard accounts.
  • Completes bank reconciliation monthly.
  • Completes monthly audit of personal finances.

Accounts Receivable Administration

  • Reconciles accounts and prepares journal entries.
  • Prepares, verifies, and processing bank deposits at least weekly and at month end.
  • Reconciles, verifies and accounts for all accounts receivable listing on a monthly basis and taking the necessary steps to collect outstanding receivables.

Payroll Administration Support. In the absence of the Payroll Administrator, completes all requirements to process the payroll including:

  • Adheres to organizational policies and the Collective Agreements on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Assists employees with any inquiries regarding payroll issues, as requested.
  • Prepares, summarizes and inputs payroll information for transmission to the bank.
  • Must possess a valid Full class G license.

About Your Role

In this role, you will...

  • Be directly responsible for enhancing the quality of life of people who live with an intellectual disability
  • Assist people with developing and achieving their Person Directed Plans, goals and outcomes
  • Support people with independent living in the areas such as budgeting, cooking, home maintenance, grocery shopping, etc. while promoting independence
  • Assist people to maintain their personal residence while promoting independence. i.e. house, apartment, etc.
  • Implement plans and strategies to connect people to community activities and events in alignment with their personal outcome measures inclusive of cultural, spiritual, recreational, leisure, educational, employment and community activities as identified by the person
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and assists people with medical, dental and other professional appointments as directed by the person and/or their family
  • Assist people and directly participate, as required, with people in volunteerism, social, cultural, spiritual, recreational, leisure, educational and community activities which align with their personal outcome measures and goals.
  • Work co-operatively with community partners to engage people we serve in the life of the community inclusive of medical professionals, landlords, legal professionals, employers etc.

Hours of work will be flexible hours including days, evenings and weekends based on the needs of people we support.
