Brandy-Lee Wilkes, Community Living Prince Edward
Hi, I’m Brandy-Lee Wilkes and I was born and raised in Prince Edward County. I grew up in a home where my parents were foster parents and my mom also worked for Community Living Price Edward. It was no surprise to anyone that a career in the human services field would be my future. Supporting people from all walks of life and making a real difference is my passion.
I started working at Community Living Prince Edward as a student when I was 19 years old in 1999. After that summer, I was hired as a part-time residential support worker and, a short time later, I became a full-time employee. Throughout my years, I moved into different roles which has provided me a versatile career with many different learning paths. I have thoroughly enjoyed positions within a residential setting, Community Supports and services and most recently Youth Services. Youth Services has been my favorite role within this agency.
The most rewarding part of Youth Services is supporting youth to develop skills that enable them to make decisions affecting their lives. To see youth that you support become valued individuals in their community, reach goals, gain employment, and even graduate high school and/or college is a huge achievement for everyone involved. These moments make me proud and are a true testament to what I do.
If you are looking to provide personal, physical, and emotional support to people with an intellectual disability on a regular basis to help them feel independent, confident and a part of their community this is a great place to start working towards a rewarding career. There are many areas within Community Living Prince Edward where you can experience personal career growth and staff are always encouraging others to work towards professional development.
Every day, Community Living Prince Edward team members like Brandy-Lee Wilkes help people achieve their goals here in the County.
