John Hatch, Prince Edward County OPP
Staff Sergeant John Hatch of the Prince Edward County OPP shares that the detachment has a long history of partnering with Community Living Prince Edward.
In fact, since 2016, Luke Flynn has worked with the local OPP. John notes “Luke is an essential member of the OPP Prince Edward team. In fact, he runs his own car washing business in the OPP garage.”
“Luke is a great asset for the OPP PEC and a fantastic example of how Community Living Prince Edward inspires possibilities for people living with intellectual disabilities. Luke is a former Special Olympian swimmer. In 2019, to support our efforts to raise money for the Special Olympics, Luke carried the torch down Main Street Picton. Luke also dropped the puck for an NHL Oldtimers hockey game in Wellington a few years ago.”
Inclusion is very important to John. He notes that “Luke is one of the hardest workers in the detachment and that’s why we have some of the cleanest cruisers in the province. His enthusiasm for his work is contagious. Luke takes part in our team building events such as Christmas dinners and summer BBQs. Most importantly, Luke’s positivity is infectious, and his high fives are legendary - he can singlehandedly change the dynamic just by walking down the hallway.”
Partnering with Prince Edward County OPP is just one of the ways that Community Living Prince Edward team members are helping people achieve their goals here in the County.
