Sarah Carson, Community Living Prince Edward

Hi, I’m Sarah Carson and I’ve worked with Community Living Prince Edward for 19 years. Prior to working at the organization, I studied Business Accounting for two years before deciding to switch to the Developmental Services Worker program. I really enjoy working with people, so this was an easy choice. I decided to apply for a position at Community Living Prince Edward because it was close to home.

I started working as a job coach and then moved into supporting people in their homes shortly afterward. Over the years, I have worked as a relief staff member as well as in various full-time roles.

During my time with the organization, I’ve enjoyed opportunities to work in many different roles as well as support people of all ages. These varied positions and opportunities have allowed me to expand my experience in the human services field.

The most rewarding experiences I’ve personally had are the many opportunities to support people in reaching their personal goals. I supported people to attend Toronto Blue Jays games, movies, musical events, the Zoo, and, most recently, a 5-day trip cottage trip as well as many other community goals.

For anyone looking to work in this field, I recommend looking into the new Inclusion Support Worker Earn and Learn Program. You’ll have the opportunity to work in the field while learning from many experienced employees who bring a wealth of knowledge. Most importantly, you will get to see if this field of work is where you’d like to build your career.

Every day, Community Living Prince Edward team members like Sarah Carson help people achieve their goals here in the County.
